2013 Novice Team
Description:
The Novice Team is for Learn to Row graduates,
first year rowers, and oarsmen and women who are returning to the sport after a
long absence. Rowers will continue to develop their sweep rowing skills in a
group setting that promotes the enjoyment of rowing by building skills and
fitness. Rowers will be encourage, and have the opportunity, to learn to scull
(row with two oars.)
Goals:
To develop and refine sweep rowing skills, provide coxing experience,
and introduce sculling. Safety on and off the water will be
emphasized. The Novice Team offers fitness training, and
includes training in boat loading, basic rigging and equipment care. All Novices
are encouraged to train for and participate in two fall regattas. Rowers must
commit to a minimum of two practices a week.
Schedule (begins June 11th):
Tues & Thurs mid-mornings:
10:00 am – 12:00 noon
Tues & Thurs evenings:
6:00 – 8:00 pm
Sat & Sun mornings:
10:00 am – 12:00 noon
Fees:
- Participation on the Novice Team requires a
Team fee in addition to the club membership fee.
- Club Membership Fee: $265 and $165 collegiate
(full time students age 24 and younger)
- Full Season Novice Team Fees $200
Summer Novice Team Fees (June 11 through Aug 31) $125
Fall Novice Team Fees
(Sept 1 through Oct 27th) $100
Service to
MRC:
All members are required to volunteer 5
hours per month. We are a club run by volunteers and we need you!
Team Size Limit:
Our Novice Team will have a limited roster. We ask that you take your decision to join seriously. Rowers must
commit to a minimum of two practices a week.
